About layla: LAYLA is a beautiful shepherd mix that was surrendered to the shelter almost two months ago when her owner decided he could no longer properly care for her. She has spent her entire life outside and the last year of that has sadly been spent outside on a chain. We are hoping to turn things around for Layla and find her a loving, indoor home, but unfortunately she hasn't had any interest whatsoever in her months here at the shelter. When she first arrived, she was quite timid and shy, but she has since settled in and is really starting to let her personality shine. In her kennel, she can be a little over the top and rambunctious so we weren't quite sure how her photo shoot would go. Well, turns out Layla is exactly why people say don't judge a book by its cover; she instantly won our hearts over and made us feel completely guilty for not getting her out sooner.

Layla is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and full of personality! This 74 pound girl is convinced she used to be a chihuahua in her past life and thinks she can fit perfectly in anyone's lap! She loves a belly rub more than anything else on Earth, and we couldn't stop laughing at her silly antics and crazy, black polka dotted tongue. Everything about her is just simply too cute to handle! Layla is 2 years old, gets along well with other dogs, and would surely love some kids to run around and play with. She unfortunately did test positive for heartworms so she'll need to be treated, but she should make a full recovery and be as good as new once her treatment is completed.
Don't adopt just because you feel sorry for layla!
Adoption should be a well thought out decision, it's a lifetime commitment.
