About snoopy: Snoopy ACCT-A-165769 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Snoopy must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by Tuesday, July 23rd at 10 A.M. Should Snoopy's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Snoopy is a delightfully sweet 1-2 year-old pup who has faced some tough breaks but remains ever "pawsitive." In May 2024, after his owner was incarcerated, Snoopy was unfortunately surrendered by his caretaker due to allergies. Despite his circumstances, Snoopy's affectionate nature shone through. He was a beloved figure on his block, and many neighbors gathered to shower him with love and say their goodbyes before Animal Protective Officers (APOs) transported him to the shelter. One of the officers even dubbed him "One of the sweetest dogs ever!" as Snoopy lavished them with affection during the ride. On June 16th, Snoopy was adopted by a neighbor who had known him since he was a puppy. However, he was returned to the shelter four days later due to compatibility issues with the household. Despite this setback, Snoopy's loving personality has remained unchanged. He is described as very sweet, friendly, and affectionate. While he is not fully housebroken and is only partially crate-trained, he has a lot of potential. Snoopy has high energy, can be anxious when crated, and knows basic commands like sit and stop. He walks well on a leash and has a fondness for hot dogs. His ideal owner would be patient, have a yard, and be ready to offer the love and training Snoopy needs to thrive. He has been given high praise in the shelter and is loved by staff and volunteers who have spent time with him. He is an excitable young pup who enjoys spending time outside, offering affection and entertainment. He is a toy and treat connoisseur and would absolutely love the chance to be spoiled with them the rest of his life! He would do best in an adult-only home as the only dog, as he wants all the attention to himself. Notes from his shelter friends: NEW Per staff: Took Snoopy out to do a meet with a family. he did really well at first, was sweet and wiggly, giving kisses and pretty gentle, He was on the daughters lap giving kisses then out of no where he lunged at her face growling, baring teeth. He did not bite or make contact with her face. I pulled him back right away and walked him back to his kennel. Per volunteer on 7/10: Snoopy is a nice and happy boy. He's a playful dog with lots of energy. Snoop likes to jump up to say hi but it's only because he's excited to make a friend. Snoop loves toys and is great at fetch. He will not drop toys in your hand, but will drop it on the ground once you show him you have another ball to throw. Snoop tends to eat treats with his whole mouth which can look worrying, but he never bites hard. Apparently he was very well-liked in his neighborhood and I can see why! He loves people and always makes you feel appreciated Per volunteer on 7/9: Snoopy was a tad hard to leash due to his size and trying to come out- he was excited! Hes strong on the leash but manageable. Hes definitely house trained. He likes treats, but wasn't over eager for them. Wasn't too interested in toys. It was a hot day so Snoopy was ready to go back in. He does jump up at the kennels as you walk through and can be a tad hard to return as he backs up out of leash I would recommend dropping treats and using clip method. Per volunteer on 7/1/24: Snoopy has energy and loves spending time outside! He loved our run and had no issue with other dogs outside or people. He is affectionate and jumped up to greet two staff members. Per volunteer on 6/24/24: jumpy and super friendly, also super cuddly. Loves toys, knows sit. Excitable especially outside. Can be redirected with toys and food easily Per volunteer on 6/3: Walking into shelter today, this pup was out with an APO, so I met Snoopy! I'm not sure I heard the whole story, but the APO had to pick up Snoopy and bring him to ACCT because the owner was incarcerated. The neighbors were upset that Snoopy, or Snoop as he's known by the neighbors, was being taken to the shelter. They said Snoop is known in the neighborhood as a good dog, plays with children, and is well-liked. We learned the Snoop likes drinking from the hose, knows sit, likes a game of tug, needs to learn not to jump on people, fetches ball and tolerates us getting close to his mouth (while he is holding the ball), is affectionate, and is trying to stay house-trained. Per staff on 6/3/24: During his dog meets Snoopy did better with females than males. He was very stiff, hackles raised, and constantly tried to mount and neck the other male dog, but was much looser and more respectful of the female. Per staff on 5/31: One of the sweetest dogs ever! Snoopy is a very happy and sweet young boy! Everyone on the block loves him, and several neighbors came to say goodbye when our animal patrol officers picked him up.
