About sadie hawk: Sadie Hawk ACCT-A-159073 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs .Sadie Hawk must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER, FOSTER OR RESCUE PARTNER by Tuesday April 9th at 10 A.M. Should Sadie Hawk's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. It's ladie's choice and Sadie Hawk is chasing after her one true love! Sadie Hawk is a 4 year old female dog who came to ACCT Philly on 3/5 after her owner sadly abandoned her outside during a rainstorm. Initially very fearful, Sadie HAwk has started to come out of her shell while here. She seems to gain some confidence when given the opportunity to play with other dogs, so she would love a doggy brother or sister to hang with in her forever home. Sadly, because Sadie HAwk has been somewhat shut down during her stay here, she has been overlooked by potential adopters. Come meet Sadie Hawk and give her a chance to show you how great she is! Read what ACCT friends have to say about Sadie Hawk: *NEW NOTE* Per volunteer on 4/4/24: I really enjoyed my time with Sadie Hawk today. She was calm in her kennel and happy to go outside. I tried to take her for a run but she seemed scared and 1/4 of the way around the block she turned around and beelined for home. She seems to feel safe at ACCT.in a run she was happy to see other dogs walk by. She loved being pet and came over to me for pets often. 3/9 Sadie Hawk was a hesitant lady when we started out but really opened up through our outing! She dodged the leash at first and was scared but once I dropped a few treats she allowed leashing. She is very gentle and a nice leash walker. The first half of our time outside she had a tucked tail and was scared with noises. We did a dog meet and she became a whole new dog! She opened up around the other dog, becoming super wiggly. She even got zoomies at one point. She did a bunch of play bows and might be a good fit for playgroup. Accepted some pets but didn't initiate any interaction 3/9 I got Sadie Hawk out for some activity time today. She was laying on her bed but came up to the door when she saw me. She had her ears back and low tail wags. She dodged the leash a bit but I was able to easily leash her and she hopped right out. When we got to the room she sniffed around for a bit. I tried offering a treat but she wasn't interested. I found a squeaky ball for her and her ears perked up. I tossed it and she followed it, sniffing at it but not picking it up. After that I sat on the floor and she came right up, accepting pets and putting her head down. I stopped for a second and she came in closer, looking for more pets. She likes the baby voice, and would give some low wags when I talked to her in a baby voice when calling her over. She mostly comes when called, but she's still nervous. I squeaked another squeaky and she perked up again. She seems to be interested in squeaky toys, but doesn't really know what to do with them. I noticed that she was drooling quite a bit as well, likely from stress. She didn't take any of the variety of treats I offered, but did enjoy head scratches and light back rubs. Her back looks very dry and itchy, so be careful how hard you pet her back there. She liked a nice soft pet on her back. I got a bunch of wags out of her, so she's opening up slowly but surely! Per volunteer 3/7: It took a few minutes to get her out of the kennel. She was tail tucked and crouching but taking treats. I closed the divider which made her a little nervous but no concerns. She eventually came right over to me to get leashed and come out. She moved at her own (slower) pace as she took everything in outside. Another dog was outside and that made her perk up and gain confidence. I think trying her with dog meets/ a helper dog could help her gain more confidence. In the dog yard she mostly sniffed. She appears to be house trained. She did allow pets but didn't solicit them really. I hope she keeps trying to be brave! 3/6 Sadie Hawk was lying down on her kennel bed and looked at me with soft eyes. She had a tucked tail and was tense, lowering her head but did slowly come forward. She sniffed the leash but then backed up onto her bed again. I closed the divider and she slowly came over again when I spoke to her softly. I scratched her chin and was able to slip my leash on as she stayed still but lowered herself. Exited once leashed. I dropped leash and let Sadie explore the eval room on her own. She sniffed low to the ground, with a neutral lowered body and low untucked tail. She was a bit avoidant at first, keeping her space, avoiding eye contact, staying low. Another handler came in the room and she was curious but still kept her distance. When they left, I called her over and she slowly approached me with low wags. I scratched her chin and she was tense, but when I stopped she scooted in closer to me and put her head on my lap. I would pet her in short spurts and she would avoid eye contact and remain tense, but wag and scoot closer to me after each time. She leaned in a bit to butt scratches, and enjoyed being closeby. She is very timid and displays submissive behaviors when nervous. No interest in treats. When medical staff evaluated Sadie HAwk she was found to have some alopecia (hairloss) in some areas and signs of dermatitis. She was given Cephalexin. She was found to be otherwise apparently healthy with no obvious signs of illness or injury, but was noted to be very nervous. On 3/11 It was determined that Sadie Hawk had contracted an upper respiratory infection and she was treated with doxycycline. 60 seconds in the life of Sadie Hawk https://youtube.com/shorts/gERM_fHOFsE?feature=shared Sadie Hawk says hi to Renzo https://youtube.com/shorts/mcbkBi28whI?feature=shared Sadie Hawk and Brownie: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/BR2DU_w82nY?feature=share Sadie Hawk gets zoomies: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/kwbG1b0E4wE?feature=share Sadie Hawk and Harper Rose: https://youtu.be/k5UyS7G_r34 ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
