About jaxon: Jaxon ACCT-A-145779 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Jaxon must have confirmed placement with an RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by Friday, September 15th at 10 A.M. Should Jaxon's medical or behavioral status change, their urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Meet Jaxon, this handsome 2 year old pup came to us as a stray on 09/5 due to his owner moving and not being able to take him with. His owner described him as a high energy boy who is very friendly. While Jaxon has been in our care, he has struggled with stress in the kennel however, since being able to decompress he has shown that outside of the kennel he is a lovely pup with a happy and energetic spirit. Due to his high energy, stress in the kennel and large size we would recommend an adult only home for him. Jaxon is looking for a family with a patient owner who will give him time to decompress and help him build his confidence up. Medically Jaxon came to us generally healthy on 09/6 but, staff did note he was "bright alert and responsive, anxious, but VERY eager to please. Fear pees nearly constantly. Due to Jaxons noted kennel stress with observed excessive panting and whining he was seen again on 09/10. Staff medicated Jaxon for his anxiety symptoms and he is being monitored for improvements. Overall Jaxon will do best with a family who can empathize with his anxious tendencies and allow him to unwind in a safe environment. Jaxon has also had many positive dog interactions since being in our care so, if you are adding this pup to your pack we would recommend a slow introduction. However his owner did note he lived with other pups so, Jaxon will likely enjoy the company of other dogs. Overall this fellow is looking for a place to settle down and finally relax. If you can provide a loving and calm home for Jaxon. Please come meet him today! Staff noted on 09/10: Poor Jaxon is still very stressed here. He likes to be by your side the entire time, and gave me plenty of cuddles and kisses. He was panting and whining the entire time. He will chase after toys but does not grab them. He gets fearful when you go to clip his leash to return him, lowering his head and body. Go slowly with the leash. Snapped at the leash when I took it off him. Staff noted on 09/9: "Jaxon is such a cuddle bug! He was easy to leash and remove from his kennel. After sniffing around for a few minutes, he came up to me and has been by my side ever since. He is very affectionate and sat on the bench with me, giving me loads of kisses and leaning against my side. He still appears to be a little stressed here as he is panting, and will sometimes get mouthy while giving kisses he likes to be sitting next to you whatever you're doing, just observing the world with you. When I brought him back to his kennel, he snapped at the leash multiple times while I was removing it. He did not do this when I was leashing him, and I am concerned it was out of arousal. Staff noted on 09/7: "Jaxon did very well for his dog meet! He is well versed in dog to dog etiquette and remained polite throughout, and tolerant Staff noted on 09/6: "Jaxon is super anxious and pees when he gets scared, but once he gets a chance to decompress, he is very friendly and SUPER food motivated. He allowed me to give his vaccines and microchip without any restraint, just a staff member telling him to sit and holding a treat. He could benefit from some work to build confidence, but I think he will do very well for training. Staff noted on 09/6: "Jaxons divider was already shut when approaching. When the handler came up he cowered and layed on the ground of the kennel. The handler sat on the edge of the kennel and coaxing him over giving some low wags. He allowed the handler to slowly slip the leash on his head after a few minutes. Jaxon was a completely different dog once out of the kennels. In the room he shook off and ran up to both handlers wagging and seeking out attention. He would lean against both of us when petting him and had good manners. He was trembling and panting- seeming a bit stressed and unsure. He did not have any interest in treats while outside. He would stay close to the both of us in the room and would nervous tinkle a lot as well. Staff noted on 09/6: "no cats Staff noted on 09/6: "Jaxon remains reactive in the kennel- growling, tense body, hard eye contact, and baring teeth. Staff noted on 09/5: "When approaching Jaxon in the kennel he stood up charging to the front and jumping up on the bars. He was hard barking, growling, and snapping at me through the kennel bars. Would not calm down or redirect for treats. Staff noted on 09/5: "Jaxon was lying down by his owner's feet as I walked past to talk to staff and he had no reaction to me. I asked what he's been doing in the lobby and was told he was getting a bit reactive to people walking by, like he was getting startled. I went to the owner and he stayed laying down but sniffed me. I asked her what he's been doing in the lobby, and she said he's mostly been hiding in her legs, and laying down by her. I asked how he normally is in public walking by people/dogs and she said he doesn't do anything, just walks on. I asked what he would do if I tried to pet him and she said he would let me. I crouched down and he submissive crawled over to me with a submissive smile and fast low wag. He put his head in my hands and fear peed. He allowed all handling from me but would often avoid eye contact, had red eyes and ears, and was panting excessively. I think people may have been thinking he was baring teeth when he was submissive smiling, although I was not there. He let me leash him easily and was a bit fearful walking through the kennels but gave me no issues. I didn't check him in due to his stress level Video: Jaxon!: https://youtube.com/shorts/TKyzXhTmox4?si=P8tLn6VlAXp6XnXO Jaxon and Bart! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/0HhD4lLXktI Jaxon the sweetie: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/jJIAOXMPB6A Jaxon and Bart: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40pIEGPuafg Kilo and Jaxon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaHsIG6ccCo Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat.
