About theo: Theo ACCT-A-146269 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Theo must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER, EXPERIENCED FOSTER or RESCUE PARTNER by Wednesday, September 6th by 10:00 am. Should Theo's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog. Meet Theo! This handsome young man came to ACCT as a stray on 8/31. Theo's finder noted that he was very friendly while in their care. Theo has been friendly with staff since arriving at ACCT, but also quite stressed! While outside Theo has been noted to be aroused and stressed- jumping up his handler frequently, panting, and pacing. He will lean in for pets and solicit attention frequently, but when he gets worked up he will continuously jump and mouth at his handler, having a hard time to self soothe his stress levels. Theo has also been stressed in kennel as well and has been observed panting and pacing in his kennel, as well as jumping up on the bars and barking. It is liekl;y that Theo will remain stressed in shelter and may deteriorate behaviorally due to high stress levels. He urgently needs to leave with an adopter, foster, or rescue who can give him a quite and calmer environment where he can decompress and show what a good boy he is! Per volunteer 9/4: Walks nicely on leash, takes treats gently, trying to stay house-trained, gets excited/a little over-aroused around cheese and became a little jumpy on handler. He did some light mouthing on my hand for attention but only once or twice and was easy for me to redirect with his leash on. Highly food motivated and knows sit. Easy leash/unleash, easy through the building, easy in and out of kennel. Volunteer notes 9/2: I met Theo on 9/2 when i was shadowing another volunteer. He was easy to get out of his kennel and through the shelter. Outside he met a ton of new doggie friends. He play bowed. And got pounced on and he was tolerant and happy throughout each interaction. We went into the play yard where he solicited pets from both of us. He seems like a happy go lucky dog with a zest for life! It was hard to get a good picture of him, because was so wiggly. He hopped up to sit with us and enjoyed giving slobbery kisses. He was jumpy at times but was able to be redirected. He is also on the smaller side so he is relatively easy to manage. There were no issues getting him back into his kennel. He will understandably need some decompression time from the shelter and he may also do well with another playful pup in the home, head to ACCT to meet him!
