When approaching Columbo?s kennel, he had a tense body and whale eyes. Once I got on my knees and became eye-level with him, his eyes softened up and he began to slowly wag his tail and whimper. I was able to leash him with no issues, but Columbo is VERY strong. He was pulling so hard that I had to grip the leash with both hands until we got outside. Once we got outside in the pen, I offered him some treats and saw his personality change. He was excitedly trotting around, and fully wagging his tail. We then went to the photo room where he showed me he knew ?sit?. He sat confidently for me to take his photos and awaited patiently for his treats. Once we returned to the ward, I saw the reason he had been tagged as ?rescue only?. He displayed aggressions towards every dog we saw in their pen, and lunged several times at their gates. I was able to successfully get him back into his kennel though without help from staff.
