1/31/10 Alex and Brenda extensive interview on Animal Wise radio
Of course you've heard of Animal Wise radio? No, you say...shame on you! This is the ONE station for animal lovers everywhere. They truly care for animals and are totally plugged into everything furry. Alex and Brenda were recently interviewed by Mike Fry and Beth Nelson, the headliners at the station. The conversation went everywhere and as Beth mentioned at the end of the show "phew, I feel exhausted". Don't fret Beth, we all felt the same way!
Give it a listen right here!
12/30/09 The Huffingon Post Christmas blog by Alex and Brenda
Another year, another decade, another fight! The Huffinton Post, one of the most popular online current event journals in the nation, felt sharing the holidays introspectively was important.
Alex and Brenda wrote a very personal blog about life in the trenches. The stories will lift your spirit and maybe, just maybe make us think about more than our own needs. Read it by clicking here.
12/22/09 Chicago papers report on the heartwarming case of Randy and Rowdy
If you follow the DogsInDanger Newsletter or our Facebook group you probably heard of the bittersweet story of Randy, Rowdy and their three puppy brothers. Well Illinois was the state that saved some of the dogs and their story was just reported on by the major papers in suburban Chicago. You can read it by clicking here, but we warn you, keep the Kleenex close by.
12/15/09 CBS.com Reports on DogsInDanger and its impact on LA shelters
Jenn McBride recently did a report for KCAL TV, the CBS affiliate in Los Angeles, about the recent participation of LA shelters in
the DogsInDanger web site. The heartwarming report interviewed shelter managers as well as potential adoptors that were just
walking "in the door". You can see the coverage by clicking here.
The report also had the enigmatic title "Can You Save My Life This Christmas?"
No way we can beat that one!
12/12/09 Alex Interview on NPR regarding Florida dogs

11/18/09 DogsInDanger Press Release on Oreo's case and pending law
9/10/09 Charlene Pedrolie, Director of New York AC&C leaving!
Our 6/17/09 newsletter outlined The Buddy Fund's abandonment of a lawsuit driven strategy to change NYAC&C and unseat its director
Charlene Pedrolie
Charlene Pedrolie. Well, thanks to the illustriously fair legislators of New York State, we were unable to air our case and outline the
evidential horrors we discovered [read full story]. Hold on though, Fate
just entered the arena on the side of the dogs! Rumor has it that Ms. Pedrolie's contract will not be renewed by New York City.
That means her two year reign is over (as of October)!
We never figured out if Ms. Pedrolie is a good guy or a bad one, but it now does not matter. Certainly we were terribly critical of her
spineless management of NYAC&C. We pray and cross our fingers that the new incoming Commissioner of Health will choose a director full
of passion and compassion! In the end we predict, humbly, that Ms. Pedrolie's two years will be relegated to the dump bin of history.
9/1/09 DogsInDanger and The Buddy Fund take new offices!
The Buddy Fund and DogsInDanger this month signed a new lease for offices located in White Plains, New York. The founders Alex Aliksanyan and
Brenda Bush marked the lease signing as a watershed moment for the non-profit. These will be the first offices exclusively dedicated to
The Buddy Fund and manned by employees of the organization.
Plans are now being put into place to hire several employees. The Buddy Fund will be putting forth a unique plan to continue our lifesaving mission.
Stay tuned!
7/16/2009 500 animal shelters now registered with DogsInDanger
Another milestone was reached by DogsInDanger this morning as the number of kill animal shelters registered with the web site reached 500! It has taken the web site 21 months to penetrate approximatelly 25% of all kill shelters in the United States. Sadly though, many of the shelters that have at one point registered never used the site. Concerns over their public image, anger by Board members unhappy about being publicly associated with the killing of dogs etc. etc. made many shelters reconsider their participation.
A heartfelt thank you and congratulations are in order and appropriate for those participating shelters that have put the lives of our pet animals and THE TRUTH ahead of personal gain.
The finger of shame though is exclusivelly reserved for shelters in the Northeast 10 states where not a single shelter is using the free, life saving service DogsInDanger provides. How they look at themselves in the mirror each morning is beyond our comprehension.
6/17/2009 DogsInDanger abandons all attempts to reform NY Animal Control
It was a sad day for dogs on June 15th, 09 when DogsInDanger announced it's abandonement of a long running attempt to reform the NY animal control agency. For nearly six months The Buddy Fund had been working with two brilliant attorneys from the global firm of Kaye Schoeler LLP in devising a legal avenue by which The Buddy Fund would be able to expose some really bad stuff happening at the shelter.
On the aforementioned date a document nearly 100 pages long was delivered to DogsInDanger that basically stated "no way to bring a lawsuit against NYAC&C under current NY State laws". Apparently when it came to animal affairs in NY, only parties directly involved can bring an action. Well that left the dogs, (their speech is incomprehensible therefore they make terrible witnesses) and The City of New York (since they sign the contract with AC&C).
Now friends what are the chances Mr. Bloomberg was going to sue his own Commisioner of Health (who sits on the Board of NYAC&C)? So we chalk one up for the bad guys and move on!
1/24/09 MSNBC runs story of DogsInDanger and "Crazy dog lady"
On December 17th, 2008 MSNBC ran a story with the headline "Crazy dog lady? Woman adopts 27 hounds". It was about Colleen Spalioni who while trying to find a dog
to replace the lovable pup she lost in a car accident ended up adopting 27 of the furry creatures! How do we fit in, well you guessed it, she was searching
on DogsInDanger, found her new doggie, went into the Delano CA shelter to pick him/her up and WHAM...she fell in love with 26 more of them.
Once home though Colleen of course had her hands full and ended up trying to adopt out many of them. The MSNBC story did the trick and all is well that ends
well we like to say. However there are good and bad things in this story. 1) DogsInDanger traffic went through the roof, peaking 240% vs the day before the story.
2) This is exactly the kind of adoption we get so criticized for! We know how hard it is to see these gentle creatures be put to death but it is the way it is folks!
Don't accept it, fight it from the inside...no one's interests are served when a caring, dog loving individual is labeled a "Crazy Dog Lady" by the national media.
We may not know much but what little we do know is this...the political hierarch of this country will never respect our views as long as they are marginalized
by attaching the prefix "crazy" to our movement.
11/21/08 DogsInDanger given $120,000 grant from google.com!
Google.com has come to personify the face of the next generation of American business -smart, competitive, generous to their customers, and socially
conscious of the greater world around them. This week google announced that a $120,000 grant is being given to DogsInDanger.com from GoogleGrants! The
funds are to be used for advertising on google.com to promote DogsInDanger and our life saving mission.
Using these much needed funds we will be able to reach thousands more potential adopters, and expand our lifesaving reach. The folks at
google are amazing. They create fantastic applications like google maps, google docs, etc., and they give it away to the public for FREE! This
is a company that all companies dream of being but cannot.
Thank you google! Thank you for hearing the quiet cries of millions of dying dogs and caring enough to do something about it. Human beings are by their nature
followers in search of a leader. Google is a great leader and we are eternally grateful to them for their kind and generous donation to our cause.
11/15/08 Find Obama a dog campaign launched
In his acceptance speech, President-Elect Barack Obama made a promise to his daughters that a new family dog would accompany them to the White House.
The idea caught fire, setting off a national debate on the kind of dog the Obamas should get, where they should get it, even what to name it. Not to be outdone, DogsInDanger
immediatelly launched a campaign to convince the Obama family that their dog should be adopted through DogsInDanger. Why not, we said, take the
ultimate action of finding a new family companion, and also saving a dog from death.
Emails went out and the story was added to our homepage. Hundreds of people responded that they contacted the Obamas by email,
phone and fax, to encourage the family to gain a buddy, and save a life, through DogsInDanger. We thank every one of you that had the kindness of
heart to participate.
But let's not get too carried away folks. The chances that the Obamas will even hear of DogsInDanger, much less act on it, is less than the
chance Mr. McCain will run for President again in 2016 (he would be 85 years old then). However we can't but wonder at the thought of a
lonely, scared dog facing death in some cold shelter becoming America's first dog, romping happily through the White House hallways.
Hmm, isn't that what the founding fathers envisioned in "the American Dream"?
11/1/08 DogsInDanger celebrates it's one year anniversary
If you were alive on October 17th, 2007 you were possibly witness to a minor miracle in the making. For on that day a small, underfunded web site came to be and
the world applauded DogsInDanger for it's humane mission. Suddenly the quiet killing of our best friends was no longer cloaked in secrecy, the veil had been
lifted and a new era of transparency begun.
One year hence DogsInDanger celebrated the occasion in typical subdued fashion. Saving 12,000 dogs while still
seeing millions die did not put us in much of a celebratory mood!
Nevertheless we take comfort that 12,000 kind individuals strode up to the plate and saved a life, that 450 shelters from all states found the courage to
do the right thing and that thousands of you put their hands into their pockets, donating small or large. These things we do celebrate while we humbly
thank you. As Churchill said, we are not at the end of the fight, we are not even at the beginning of the end but we may have crossed the path to the end of
the beginning.
In the land of the animals victories come in small, hard to recognize packets.
6/23/08 DogsInDanger 1st ever event draws everyone to Doggywood
If you were in Los Angeles on June 14th, the place to be was DogsInDanger's first annual "The Dogs Next Door" event in Beverly Hills. WOW, what a party it was,
starting with Michael Scott's mansion -- this reporter never knew the other .01% lived like that -- swimming pool, tennis court, volleyball court,
and even a grotto accessed through a waterfall! The stars came out, the sun smiled, and we all danced to the rhythms of DJ Dimitri Hamlin (son of actor
Harry Hamlin) while sipping delectable doggie themed drinks like the "golden retriever".
All that was good and fun, but there was also an air of melancholy as the rescue dogs took the stage. For among the happy splendor were eight little dogs, walking the
custom built fashion runway, dressed in cute designer clothes, and accompanied by stunning world famous models. The irony was that these dogs were
once just minutes away from being killed, saved through DogsInDanger by the graces of kind hearted Californians.
Ah, but such are the trials of life on earth. These were the winner dogs and we celebrated their second chance at life in style. To see pictures
from the event click here.
6/10/08 Two fabulous fundraising events make DogsInDanger a star
Two weeks ago DogsInDanger announced two fundraising events in California that should rock anyone's leash! The first will be held on June 14th in a
$20,000,000 Beverly Hills mansion (no, we did not mess up the zeros --that's 20 MILLION). Shana Wall, recently of CBS's The Amazing Race
is the gal that pulled it all together (with a little help from her friends... a big thanks also to Todd at Reality Cares!). Ryan Seacrest,
Maria Menounos, and Harry Hamlin are all confirmed to attend and so is the press with red carpets full out.
The event features a doggie fashion show starring pooches saved in their last minutes of life through DogsInDanger. It really is a dog's world, one day
you are condemned to death for no reason and the next you are walking down a runway accompanied by Ryan Seacrest enjoying the refined air of Beverly Hills.
The second event is at the fashionable W hotel in San Diego on June 24th. Audrey Davidow is the woman this time making the magic happen. What would
life be if it weren't for ladies like Shana and Audrey?
4/25/08 DogsInDanger announces program giving money back to shelters
In a groundbreaking move, DogsInDanger
announced today a revolutionary program giving money to shelters for participating in their life saving mission. The
program rewards shelters by giving them $1.00 for each dog that is uploaded to the web site, regardless of whether the dog is adopted or euthanized.
Registered shelters don't have to do anything more to participate. Commencing May 1, 2008 shelters will see the amount of their earning each time they log on.
The money will be distributed to the shelters annually. Oh, one more thing, there are no strings attached to the use of funds -
we just know that people who care enough to go through the extra one minute it takes to upload a dog will also do the right thing with our money.
4/22/08 Live euthanasia shelter from Oprah show joins DogsInDanger
| | Keane Menefee, Ft. Worth Animal Care & Control |
For anyone that saw Oprah's groundbreaking show on the evils of puppy mills, the heartbreaking moment came when a friendly dog was
euthanized live and on camera at the Ft. Worth Animal Care & Control facility in Ft. Worth, Texas. We commend shelter manager
Keane Menefee for his courage in showing the reality of what happens behind closed doors in shelters all across this country.
And again this week we extend our thanks to Officer Menefee for registering Ft. Worth Animal Care & Control to list their dogs on DogsInDanger.com.
Those Texas dogs will now have one last chance at life through the DogsInDanger lifeline. Our government has institutionalized euthanasia as an
acceptable method of animal control. Officer Menefee's courage in lifting this veil and embracing transparency is admirable and
a prerequisite to a more compassionate society.
4/4/08 DogsInDanger provides shelter dog pictures for Oprah's show
Hopefully everyone in America saw Oprah's groundbreaking show on the horrors of puppy mills. Thank you Oprah for showing the many colors of your heart!
What you probably did not realize (unless you can read the credits while they scroll at 75mph), is that DogsInDanger was contacted by the show's producers and supplied pictures
of shelter dogs past and present for the one hour report.
We were more than proud to be a part of this noble endeavour with this noble lady.
3/23/08 In a surprise move perezhilton.com features DogsInDanger and huge traffic
A first for the incredibly popular perezhilton.com website, DogsInDanger was featured Thursday March 20 on its home page as a "worthwile cause".
It was a complete surprise to us, since no one notified us in advance and we only noticed it when web traffic went through the roof. We waited patiently until someone
finally wrote in and told us of the Perez Hilton post.
For the few of you that have not heard of Perez Hilton, he is one hot dude...and only the most popular celebrity writer gossip columnist in the country! His website is
amazingly popular -drawing millions of visitors DAILY! All this is not a surprise, the surprise is that a celebrity gossip website chose to highlight
a good cause dog adoption site. To us that means Perez is one classy guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. Muchos gracias Perez, the pooches and us love you!
3/7/08 People Magazine features DogsInDanger as full page HERO!
The March 10th issue of People Magazine featured a full page pictorial on DogsInDanger and its life saving mission. The article positioned
DogsInDanger as a People Hero in their popular "Heroes Among Us" section.
A picture of DogsInDanger co-founder Alex Aliksanyan smiling
alongside several of the dogs that were saved through the site accompanied the article. Also included was Buddy, Alex's ubiquitous dog and the
inspiration for The Buddy Fund Inc.

The featured picture was taken in a hysterical photo shoot where eight dogs were expected to sit and stay! The 3-hour pandemonium that followed
made this photo shoot memorable for all those involved. We thank all those who took time out of their weekend to be a part of this special moment.

2/9/08 Barkathon Challenge award winner drives shelter count past 300
January 08 was PawerSquad Barkathon Challenge contest month where our national team of volunteers spanned across the nation in signing up new shelters to DogsInDanger
and the cause we stand for. It was a nail-biting competition which came down to Tonya in Arizona and Jackie in Colorado, vying for the honors and a $500 cash
award put up by DogsInDanger.
Well the results are in and Tonya is the WINNER leading by just one shelter. All this activity drove our participating shelter count soaring past 300 - 316
shelters to date - just to be exact! Then when it was time for Tonya to receive her $500 award, she gracefully declined offering to instead give $100 to
Jackie her competitor, $100 to Alice (the PawereSquad coordinator at DogsInDaner) and $300 donated back to DogsInDanger.
Now, we have had the privilege of knowing some classy people but this tops it all. Like we said in an email to Tonya, thanks for the effort, thanks for
the generosity but most of all thanks for being you!
1/31/08 DogsInDanger wins "Most Touching website of 2007" award!
Well the dogs did it once again! DailyCandy.com, a site dedicated to fashion, food and culture announced the winners of their annual Sweetest Things
contest at a posh party at the swanky Bowery Hotel in Soho, NYC on Jan 31st, 2008. In the "Touch" category, DogsInDanger won as the website
of 2007 that touched the hearts of their readers.
The national award was immediately listed on their very popular web site.
We're not about glitz or winning awards from hip youngsters, but thanks Daily Candy for having your hearts open enough to be touched by the plight of our dogs.
1/11/08 Benefactor saves 37 dogs listed on DogsInDanger
When Sylvia of the Elizabethtown, NC animal control received a call from Britt regarding her interest in adopting Carrie, a dog listed on DogsInDanger,
she had no idea how dramatically her life was about to change. Turns out Britt was so moved by the pictures of the innocent doggies on our website she
went ahead and made arrangements to save all 37 dogs the shelter listed. Britt paid to transport all the dogs to various rescues and homes in Florida, which she
found!
Next week Britt is flying her private jet to meet Sylvia in person and adopt a second dog for herself, of course one listed on DogsInDanger.
Way to go Sylvia and Britt, you give us all hope.
12/31/07 DogsInDanger nominated as Best New Website of 2007
DogsInDanger closed out it's introductory year with two nominations for Best New Website of 2007! Daily Candy (dailycandy.com) a website dediated to
bringing joy and motivation to millions of Americans daily selected DogsIndanger as one of its three nominees for it's
Sweetest Things Awards. Winners will be announced at a posh awards dinner on Jan 31st, 2008.
KTLA.TV, Los Angeles' leading television station nominated DogsInDanger.com as one of five sites for its
Best Website of 2007 Awards. Kurt the Cyber Guy announced the nominations on air, explaining how DogsInDanger makes us feel uncomfortable, as it should.
10/25/2007 Shelters around the country report SUCCESS!
Initial reports and statistics indicate very high rates of success by DogsInDanger.com in saving dogs slated for euthanasia. Shelters
around the country have begun reporting to us that "they are overwhelmed by calls, emails etc". Website stats indicate to date 86% of the dogs
listed on DogsInDanger.com have been saved..
Many shelters report they are so inundated with inquiries about their dogs that they don't have
the time to update the dog's status, thus resulting in temporarily erroneous data on the web site (the shelters control all data on
DogsInDanger.com). Mail to DogsInDanger.com is running 50 to 1 positive about the site and the awareness it has brought to the plight of shelter dogs. Sounds
like the dogs are getting a break for once!
10/25/2007 Comments on Philadelphia shelter spark controversy
After DogsInDanger Director's comments on the Today show, naming PACCA for their decision not to join the site, controversy erupted. Here is what
we said.. "One shelter, PACCA, in Philadelphia, has refused to participate. They claim that it's too cumbersome and it doesn't really fit their model"
, exactly the reasons they gave us for not participating. NBC10's (Philadelphia station) story on the news that night set the stage for Ms. Tara
Derby, Executive Director of PACCA, to go public blasting DogsInDanger. Her claims that DogsInDanger asked PACCA to "just pick some fictitious date
and keep pushing it out, thus not telling the truth," was immediately denied publicly by DogsInDanger.
Now hold on there Derby! There is a big difference between estimate and fabricate. We never asked anyone to create fictitious dates to manipulate
the public. In a conference call with PACCA's Director of Development, we told her that to use the site a shelter must be able to estimate euthanasia
dates, which could be adjusted based on a variety of factors, not the least of which is INTEREST IN THE DOG. If the dogs are dying, and we all agree
that dogs are dying at PACCA, surely there is some methodology for selecting those unfortunate pups. She went on to accuse us of actually
encouraging the dogs death by forcing it to be euthanized on the “euthanasia date”. Some things are so absurd that they don’t deserve a response,
this was one of them, but hey Tara here’s some breaking news for you, a DogsInDanger euthanasia date is not the same as a court ordered execution
date.
Why did we press the issue with PACCA? Because there are 4 million dogs a year dying in shelters, some of them at PACCA, that's why. PACCA closed
the door on us unless we agreed to take away the very core concept of the site. We tried a second time to find a compromise and the door was shut
on our faces once again.
Following this, PACCA supporters took to the blogs posting vicious personal attacks, and untruths against DogsInDanger co-founder Alex Aliksanyan
and his family...of course always under pseudonyms. They have tried in every way they can to discredit, disparage and destroy this organization
because of our one line statement of why they refused to participate. Derby then started sending out emails accusing DogsInDanger of "lying" and
"misrepresentation". We don't know who their legal advisor is, but they may want to seek new counsel.
DogsInDanger refused to get down in the mud, never posting any insulting or derogatory comments about PACCA or Derby. Now both parties have served
each other with cease and desist requests, the lawyers are working away. All this stupidity does nothing to help the unfortunate dogs that will die at PACCA, never having a
chance at life through our lifeline...that's all we care about. Wish they felt the same way.
Do the research, check the blogs, make up your own mind. But if you want the full version of the story click here.

9/27/2007 Public Relations campaign launches with national media coverage
9/12/2007 Shelter outreach program launches with mass email to shelters!
September 20th, 2007
Dear Shelter,
I’m writing to let you know about our new adoption website solely for urgent shelter dogs. DogsInDanger.com is an Internet-based national shelter outreach program dedicated to helping shelters save the millions of dogs that they are forced to euthanize.
Dogs are listed with a photo and a profile similar to what you’ve seen, and perhaps had posted, on other pet adoption sites. The big difference with DogsInDanger is that this site is only for urgent shelter dogs. The date each dog is scheduled to be euthanized will be displayed along with the dogs’ pictures and names. We’ll also list the reason (medical, breed, age, behavior, or space) why euthanasia is scheduled.
You can login to update the dog’s status if a dog has been rescued/adopted, euthanized, or had its euthanasia date extended. In addition to gaining exposure with potential adopters, we hope rescues will also search this national database listing of urgent dogs to pull into rescue.
We’ve designed the site specifically to assist shelters reach more adopters than they can on their own. The fact is few shelters have the advertising budgets needed to get their dogs the public attention they deserve. DogsInDanger is managed by a group of dedicated animal lovers with experience in sheltering and rescue. It may be uncomfortable for some to see lists of names and photos of dogs scheduled to be euthanized, but, the truth is uncomfortable. By making it personal, we believe more people will be compelled to help these dogs.
DogsInDanger is an absolutely free service, designed to give you as much help as possible without creating more work for your already overburdened shelter staff. We’ve made everything easy, including the registration and update process. In fact, no special computer knowledge is needed - anyone on your staff can keep the list current. Here’s how it works:
After registering with us, your shelter will have access to an Internet page where you can list dogs in your shelter facing euthanasia. Keeping the page current is simple, when you save the list and upload photos, the changes take effect on our site immediately. And if you don’t already have one, we'll even send you a digital camera at no cost.
Today we started registering shelters. Two weeks from now we will commence an internet and print marketing campaign targeting potential adopters and driving traffic to the site to see your listed dogs.
When you visit DogsInDanger.com, you’ll note that it is tasteful and almost quiet in its presentation. At the same time, however, DogsInDanger is about reducing dog euthanasia, and we’re not shy about telling people beyond our community the magnitude of this needless national tragedy.
Of course, we have a section featuring the happy endings that we, and our partner shelters, help arrange. But possibly unique among dog rescue sites, DogsInDanger will feature a “memorial wall” where we’ll keep the names and pictures of the dogs for who time simply just…ran…out.
We believe in the power of compassion, and that the American public would be doing more to help and adopt from shelters, if only they knew how many dogs shelters are forced to euthanize. We also believe that shelters don't really want to euthanize dogs, if they had any other option.
We welcome comments and suggestions to make this site as shelter-friendly and successful as can be. I hope you can take a few minutes today to visit our site, learn more about us, and let us help you save your dogs.
Sincerely,
Brenda Bush
Director,
The Buddy Fund Inc.

8/25/2007 DogsInDanger.com launches website of national shelter outreach program
DogsInDanger.com launched its national shelter outreach program to list shelter dogs slated for euthanasia on its website. The program has an initial goal of reaching all kill shelters in Ohio and Georgia.
The group will then review and assess the results prior to registering the shelters in large urban communities such as New York and Los Angeles.
The nonprofit group seeks to display a listing of all dogs scheduled for euthanasia on it's web site thus allowing the public an opportunity to save the dogs through adoption.
