Bio
Meet Coco! 🐾
At 9 years old, Coco has been through a lot, but she?s still full of love. Despite her past injuries?including an old femoral fracture and a BB pellet?she?s resilient and ready for a second chance. She also underwent surgery for a retained fetus with secondary pyometra and is now on the road to recovery. Coco deserves a quiet, loving home where she can rest and be spoiled like she deserves.
Shelter Observation
03/20/25: Coco was able to be leashed with ease and walked well on a leash.
Medical
03/19/25: Presented sternally recumbent and unable to stand up. Vulva is edematous with slight green crusty discharge around vulva area. Heart and lungs normal. MM=Pink. Abdominal palpation appears to be a little tender. Still lactating so appears to have had puppies at one point.
DX: Xray (RL & VD View Abdomen)=Radioopaque density in cranial ventral abdomen. Bone or remants of fetus ?. Possible distended uterine horns on both lateral and VD Views.
DX: Chemistry Profile/CBC=Nonregenerative Anemia with high Total WBC count. Globulins and Total proteins are elevated.
03/20/25: it was noted at the time of prep that there is extremely limited range of motion of the left
coxofemoral joint and is in somewhat of a flexed position. post op radiographs consistent with prior and currently non-union femoral head fracture with significant remodeling/mineralization of surrounding tissue. there is also a metallic foreign object present in the left proximocaudal thigh (proximal SM/ST region) consistent with large bb.
incised into the firm mass of the left cranial uterine horn to expose fetal remnants. dx-retained fetus with secondary pyometra.
