He was standing in the middle of the kennel with concerned eyes and hackles raised. The runner opened the gate and kneeled while coaxing him. Ron would not approach initially but eventually came up with a low body, stretching to sniff his hand. He then retreated to the back of the kennel, facing away from the runner with hackles raised. He had a tense body and neutral stiff tail. He pressed his body against the side wall while facing away and side-eyeing the runner while looking over his shoulder. The runner stepped in and Ron growled at him. The runner was able to place the leash over his head without issue. Once it was on, he relaxed and exited the kennel. He walked next to the runner on the way to the catch pen. He was hesitant entering the pen as he noticed the dogs in the yard. He slowly paced the back fence, looking for an exit. The runner spent a few moments reassuring him and petting his head. He was tense but tolerated the collar being clasped around his neck. He then approached the play yard fence, stretching his body to sniff them with concerned eyes and hackles raised. He entered the yard on a long, loose leash. A female shepherd came up quickly. Ron lip curled at her, warning her for space. The warning was respected and the two separated. Ron spent the next few minutes slowly roaming the yard, keeping to himself. A second female shepherd came up slowly. Ron was tolerant of her sniffing his body until she lingered near his muzzle. After she spent a few moments near his face, Ron growled and snapped one time at her. The warning was respected, and he walked away. He began pacing the perimeter fence looking for an exit. He did not interact with any other dogs nor seek out any handlers. He was returned to his kennel without issue. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, ADULTS (REQ), CALM DOGS (REQ), LOW ENERGY
The handler walked him into the pen and gave him a few moments to acclimate. He kneeled next to Ron and lightly coaxed him. Ron came up with soft eyes and a loose body, seeking affection. Ron was relaxed with soft eyes as the handler looked into his ears and viewed his teeth. He squatted down as the handler touched his tail, not comfortable with the contact. He sat down completely with concerned eyes and a tense body as the handler lifted up his rear paw. He resisted his front paws being lifted and once off of the ground, he pulled them away. As the handling assessment was concluded, Ron came back up to the handler with soft eyes and a loose body, soliciting affection. He walked back to his kennel without issue. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, ADULTS (REQ), CALM DOGS (REQ), LOW ENERGY
