About ezra: Erza ACCT-A-177324 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Erza must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER or RESCUE PARTNER by Monday, October 28th by 10:00 am. Should Erza's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal. Meet Erza! This sweet girl was found as a stray on 10/2 and is ready to find her forever home. Erza adores people, so much so that she'll happily soak up pets and shower you with kisses in return. She's an active pup who enjoys going on walks and would likely make a great running partner. The shelter environment has been a bit stressful for her, so we're hoping she finds her new home soon! Erza's ideal home would be without other dogs or cats and with an active family. She would love to be the spotlight of the home! This sweet gal would make a wonderful running or hiking companion. Due to her excitability she can become overstimulated and mouthy/jumpy, she is preferred to be in a home with just adults who can help guide her on positive redirection from these behaviors. On 10/2 Erza was given an exam and found to be about 4 years old, 58 lbs, have red eyes, ears, and nose, slightly inflamed gums, and friendly during her exam. She was also noted to have some bleeding coming from the webbing of one of her toes. Later on 10/9, Erza was seen by our medical team for possible pneumonia. On this exam she was found to have mild increase RR/RE, cheek puffing at times and shallow huffing cough, mild serous discharge from her nose. Sweet and playful girl despite her upper respiratory infection. She didn't eat dinner but ate canned food at the exam. She was given a PCR test and found to be positive for pneumovirus. Erza was then placed in ISO for treatment. On 10/13 she was given another exam and chest x-rays for her concern of pneumonia. Upon review, it was noted to show soft tissue opacity in the right middle lung lobe and left cranial lung lobe (in caudal aspect). Erza was moving during the X-ray but adequate for diagnosis. Her pulse Ox was 95% so we proceeded with in house treatment. NOTES: On 10/23 per staff: Did a dog meet with Erza and Diesel today. When Erza laid eyes on Diesel, she became very excited and fixated on him. She pulled right towards him and upon nearing his face started snapping at him. She was very vocal towards Diesel and when getting close enough to him would continue to snap. We gave them some space so Erza could settle down, however she continued to be vocal at Diesel and was not able to have her attention be redirected by her handler. Once she was separated by several feet she was able to be redirected by her handler with some excited baby talk and keeping her moving. She had no issues being removed or taken back to her kennel. Her handler mentioned how sweet she was, even giving kisses and cuddles! Went potty as soon as she went outside. On 10/9 per staff: What a sweet and playful gal. Even though I can tell she is subdued from her cold, she was still very affectionate when I had her in the exam room. She solicited pets and wanted to give kisses, she even got a little playful. She was excellent for all her treatments and exam (even the injection that stings). I was able to do everything with no assistant. She gets an A+ in my book! On 10/6 per volunteer: I read the notes about her kennel/fence fighting when trying to be returned, so I was able to get her out of her kennel and walked as fast as possible through the kennels and passing the side bank kennels. I had no issues with this method of getting her outside. Once outside she was looking all around distracted by the smells and the sounds. I decided to take her offsite for a walk down to a parking area away from noise and traffic. She was a bit jumpy, but did better as we kept walking. She gave tail wags and she really seemed to enjoy all over petting and even gave kisses. She liked treats. We went into one of the runs when we got back and she was back to being really unfocused. She did get in the doggy pool so she might enjoy the water. I think she would settle in a home, she also seems like she would be a good running/adventure buddy. On the way back, I also did not have any issues walking her through the kennels but walked her back as fast as possible so she could not be distracted. On 10/5 per volunteer: Erza was excited to come out- wiggly and eager to be leashed. She went to the bathroom immediately and appears to be trying to stay housetrained. She was really excited to see a dog through a fence and would push her muzzle into it. Appeared to be playful but would need an actual dog meet - she does struggle a bit to be neutral around other dogs, she gets excited and vocal. On our walk we encountered another dog and she was easily directed away. Seems like a dog who would be content with a couple of good walks a day, with medium energy level. She allowed handling and petting all over. On 10/3 per staff: When returning to the kennel, she began kennel/fence fighting along with trying to dart out of the kennel while the handler tried to return her. On 10/3 per staff: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Erza was sitting by the door alert barking but stopped when she saw the handler with fast wags, toe taps and wide dilated eyes. She jumped up and didnt get down when the handler tried to open the door but remained calm and just stood up and was easily leashed. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately-strongly HANDLING: Once in the eval room she was very aroused and stressed, jumping up on the handlers, snatching treats off the counter and from the handler and moving very sporadically. She is very snatchy with treats and loves to jump up. She can get very overstimulated and excitable and will go to panting and pacing very quickly then to climbing all over the handler, mouthing slightly, kissing and getting very jumpy. She allowed all handling and remained loose and wiggly and was not able to redirect her attention to toys. She knows sit and eventually calmed down after jumping all over and running her energy out. PLAY Minimal interest in toys and played with handler but gets very aroused TOYS: Minimal interest COLOR LEVEL & ANY RECOMMENDATIONS: Blue On 10/2 per staff: She is very friendly and loves to jump up in your face and give you kisses. She is a big girl so brace yourself for her love.
