Boss was surrendered to our shelter after being attacked by another dog. He is currently in our injured room for medication and regular checks. When visiting him for pictures, he was very sweet, wagging his tail softly the entire time.
Medical
02/06/24 P has punctures to left front. He is non weight bearing on that leg and appears to have edema. Gum color is pink CRT 2sec>. SPO2 is 87%. Pain meds were given at this time.
02/07/24 MM pink; crt < 3sec. Multiple bite wounds with worst being on left fore; Patient can bear weight on right fore but is knuckling occasionally. Significant swelling and cellulitis palpable in axilla; no palpable fractures. Begin antibiotics and oral pain meds.
2/10/24 - Recheck of right front lameness and cellulitis eending to axilla.
ATT: sweet, gentle
CARD: no murmur auscultated
RESP: bilaterally clear, no discharge seen on nares
M/S: bearing weight on front left most of the time, standing and walking well, carpus to shoulder is swollen, axilla has edema and is very warm to touch and reddened, emphysema is palpable around swollen axilla, edema settling on left side of ventrum as well.
SUMMARY: Patient much improved from intake. Ambulation and swelling is decreased per technicians who performed intake. Cellulitis is still active and causing very hot area in axilla. Emphysema and cellulitis will take time to resolve. Maintain deadline and outcome.
Adding:
-Amoxicillin/Clavulante 375 tab, 1 tab BID
-Gabapentin 600 mg tab, 1/2 tab BID
02/11/24 09:59 Cellulitis has resolved however fluid pocket now palpable in axilla; recommend drain at time of neuter if still present. Moderate swelling still present but has improved. Maintain routing at present.
