Poor Samson is back at BARC and based on his shelter notes, volunteers will need to meet him again to see if he is still that fun loving dog that we knew from 2 years ago. In November of 2021 he was known as Dasher and was well liked by everyone who met him. He did well with kids and dogs. He was wounded but healed well and got adopted in December of 2021. When Samson left BARC he was HW-. Unfortunately, we don't know what happened to Samson/Dasher between those years, but he is now low HW+ and found as a stray. Well, we met him and he is still in good weight shape, so seemed to be well taken care of food wise. Obviously the owner hasn't come forward as he was microchipped. Meeting Samson today made me sad because he is still the fantastic dog he was 2 years ago, just much bigger. He's definitely a man now, but is still chill and smart. He did great on his temp test with Grey. He really is so stunning looking and his eyes melt you away. It's like they stare into your soul.

2/4 Approaching his kennel, Samson is vocalizing with a heavy pant and dilated pupils. I leash and he begins to pull and hold a very tight leash, I made a harness and began to walk him like this, I leash walked and he did still pull with force but after walking for a while he did ease up on the leash and began to eat treats. His kennel will remain covered as he will begin to pace and vocalize at people and dogs that pass by him with dilated pupils, but he will allow redirection.
2/2 Approaching kennel, Samson is vocalizing and panting with an open mouth pant all while holding red eyes and a forward body. I redirected using treats and then leashed him. Samson pulls heavily on the leash so I would suggest using a harness on him to diminish the amount of force. Dog starts to forward bark non-stop when being placed in the runs as well as paces. Would suggest to leash walk him only since yesterday he maintained a much looser body when PM walking. Maintained kennel cover due to him forward barking at other dogs as well as people passing by. During PM walk, Samson walked a little slower when loose leash walking on a harness.
2/1 Upon approach, Samson is at the front of the runs forward barking and a wagging tail and as I get closer he does back up a few steps and slightly cowers with a hard stare. Once I started to babytalk and offer treats to leash him. Dog held a very tight leash while ignoring treats being offered on the way to his new kennel. Noticed him starts to vocalize and pant with an open mouth so I gave him extra enrichment and covered his kennel door.
