About macaroon: Macaroon ACCT-A-146792 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Should Macaroon's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog. Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. **Additional dog meet video upon request** Meet the star of any room, Macaroon! This young female dog arrived as a stray on September 6th, 2023 and was found to have a microchip. Unfortunately, the microchip was not registered so we were not able to successfully reach any owner. Upon being picked up as a stray by our animal officers, it was quite obvious that Macaroon had a concerning mass towards her back end. The veterinarian shared that Macaroon is a middle aged or young female dog with a large perianal tumor. The tumor could be neoplasia or benign. Due to the size of the tumor, Macaroon is looking for placement with a rescue who can provide removal of the mass and proper aftercare. The veterinarian went on to say that this petite little pup was energetic, solicited attention and had loose posture during the entire exam. Per medical staff on 9/7/23: Macaroon was very good for her intake exam, despite her perianal tumor probably being very uncomfortable. She just wants to be in your lap with her head on your shoulder and snuggle. She did great for her vaccines and chip without restraint, very treat motivated! She is destined to be a lap dog. Per staff on 9/7/23: I took Macaroon out again today to get some photos. She went to the bathroom immediately after exiting the building. She did have a bowel movement and there was some feces left behind on her mass. When we got in to the building, I cleaned it off. She gave no issues doing so, I made sure to be gentle. I rewarded her by giving her a treat which she took very gently! Per staff on 9/7/23: Macaroon was easily leashed and unleashed when it came time to returning her to the kennel. I had taken her outside to do a meet with Salt. She was focused on Salt following us out of the building. We did a fence meet and it was not horrible but not the best. Her hackles were slightly raised and her tail was straight up. We attempted to proceed with a pack walk but as she was walking alongside Salt through the fence she stopped to growl again and jump on the fence towards Salt. I decided it were best to end the meet. Salt did not care one bit about Macaroon and all that she had to say. When back inside, Macaroon allowed full body handling and even let me touch her ears. I also touched some sensitive spots on her face where you can see healing wounds and wounds that had healed and were scared. She is incredibly people friendly and even wanted to say "hi" to staff as we were initially exiting the kennel. In the adoptions lobby, I sat down and gave her some pets. She put her two paws on my legs and was eager for some more pets! Macaroon would probably do best in a home without any other animals. She would rather steal all of the love from her pawrents. Per staff on 9/7/23: Macaroon was loose in kennel and wagging at the front. She was easy to leash and very patient with leashing. Macaroon was social with all handlers in the room and greeted us all with tail wags and soft eyes. She was affectionate with all of us and would lean in for pets and climb into our laps for pets. Macaroon engages in play but does not show interest in toys.
