About seamus: Seamus ACCT-A-145843 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Seamus must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by Wednesday, September 6th at 10 A.M. Should Seamus's medical or behavioral status change, their urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Meet Seamus! He's a sweet boy with a zest for life. He has lived with kids before and would love to join your family! His friends at ACCT said: "Seamus is a very affectionate and energetic boy. He likes to be near you at all times and wants 24/7 cuddles! He is a huge fan of the tennis ball and will chase it all day. He lets you touch it while it's in his mouth, but he will play growl. Other times he releases it willingly." Overall Seamus is looking for a forever home where he can relax and finally feel safe again! Medically Seamus came to us generally healthy on 08/25 however he was assessed to have a "cloudy right eye. His eye was later reassessed on 08/28 because of his symptoms noted when coming in and staff stated that Seamus will need to have his eye removed due to his severely inflamed eye. Staff also noted during the exam that Seamus was "Sweet and hyperactive.Seamus will do best with a rescue group who can help him undergo his needed eye enucleation surgery as well as monitor him on an individual basis while he heals. If you are interested in Sweet Seamus. Please come meet him today! During Seamus's time at ACCT Philly he has had two dog meets. During his initial fence meet, Seamus exhibited barrier reactivity when meeting Midnight and 'lunged and air snapped' at the other dog. However in his second meet with the same dog, after removing the barrier Seamus seemed to react a lot better! He was still stiff when engaging with the other dog however, he was excitable and showed a wagging tail. Overall if you are introducing Seamus into a family with other pups, we would recommend an extremely slow introduction. If you are interested in transforming this pups life and helping him find his forever home, please come meet him at ACCT Philly today! Volunteer notes 9/4: Walks nicely on leash, takes treats gently, loves fetch and is learning to return ball, snuggles right in for pets. First time meeting him and he was a friendly, social boy. Volunteer notes 9/2: Seamus is the cutest little land seal. He's on the smaller side. Dude loves hugs. He put his paws up and solicits attention, and I think he would have stayed there all night if I let him. He was nosing in my treat pouch but I had already given them all away. He seems to be house trained. We took a quick lap around the parking lot and he was ready to go back in. He was a little distracted with the other dogs barking but he went back in to his kennel with no treats, but a little direction. He does seems to be a little jumpy in his kennel as I walked away, maybe because he's a short guy and he's trying to see out! Staff stated on 09/1: "Seamus is a sweet, high energy little nugget. He was easy to handle, loved playing ball outside, and leaned in for cuddles with a loose wiggly body. Super tolerant of all body handling. Staff stated on 08/31: "Seamus is a very affectionate and energetic boy. He likes to be near you at all times and wants 24/7 cuddles! He is a huge fan of the tennis ball and will chase it all day. He lets you touch it while it's in his mouth, but he will play growl. Other times he releases it willingly. I found when you really hype him up during play is when he mounts. He still will get off you with a verbal correction Staff stated on 08/30: "My first time taking out Seamus and he was great! We went outside first and he used the bathroom immediately, then pulled me strongly right back in! He is very affectionate and loves standing on your legs/lap to get pets. He can get a bit over excited with his jumping but is calmed easily, and redirects for tennis balls like a champ! He lovessss chasing tennis balls and is so good at catching them. Once he gets his energy out he's an easy going boy! Staff stated on 08/30: "I'm housebroken! Staff stated on 08/27: "Loves tennis balls! Staff stated on 08/27: "Will sometimes mount my leg briefly but never starts to hump. Gets slightly jumpy Staff stated on 08/27: "Seamus is very social and friendly, allowing all over handling while putting his front legs on my lap. When I stop petting him he solicits for more by licking my face and trying to climb into my lap. Staff stated on 08/27: "Will jump up at the other kennels, but not fence fighting the dogs. Staff stated on 08/27: "Seamus was standing at the front of his kennel when I approached him. When he saw me, he barked once, and then got up on his back legs. He greeted me with soft eyes, a loose body, and a wagging tail. He took a treat gently through the bars. He allowed me to leash him and exited the kennels without issue. Staff stated on 08/27: "Added adult only home preferred due to starting to mount during play. Staff stated on 08/27: "In a previous home, this animal lived harmoniously with children. Staff stated on 08/27: "Observed Seamus digging at the transfer door and jumping high in the air, almost jumping out of the kennel.
