About otis: Otis ACCT-A-133850 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space for incoming dogs and length of stay. He must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by Monday, April 10th at 10 A.M. Should Otis's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Otis is a handsome three year old who was brought to the shelter by an Animal Protection Officer after he was found as a stray in a recreation center on March 9th. The officer noted that "He's very sweet! He was trembling when I first approached, but never tensed up. After sitting down next to him for a few mins he allowed to be leashed with zero issues. Then he crawled into my lap and leaned his head on my chest. He's in great shape and he's really clean - clearly a house dog. Otis had no significant findings during his medical intake and during his behavior evaluation on March 11th, it was noted that "Otis solicits attention with a loose body, wagging tail, and soft eyes. Occasionally he would get excited and jump up on the handlers, but he was easy to redirect. He has puppy tendencies that seem like someone has already been working on. We saw the APO that brought him in and asked him to come into the yard to see how Otis reacted and Otis was so happy to see him that he rolled on his back and wanted belly rubs and just to be loved all over. Volunteers have noted that he is cuddly, is a good helper dog and helps nervous dogs build confidence, takes treats gently, and is very social! He is a very fun loving guy who has been noted to be house broken and is an activity dog, meaning he gets extra enrichment time in the shelter. On March 27th, a staff member summed up Activity Time by saying that "he had very good leash manners -except for when he sees a dog. He is already high arousal and gets very excited to try to see dogs, and he is strong. But he does try to walk well on leash, and he's definitely come a long way! When we got to the play yard, he immediately started zooming around, and loved sprinting as fast as he could. He did not have interest in toys, but was very happy to just solo zoom. He maintained soft eyes, a loose wiggly body, and a wagging tail the entire time. He jumped up on the bench with me as well for attention. He would do well in an active home! Otis is a social and fun guy who is in immediate need of placement with a rescue or an adopter. He has had positive dog meets in the shelter and may do well with a canine companion. He would do best in an active adult-only home due to observed behaviors in the shelter, such as jumpiness and puppy tendencies. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent.
