About rachel: 🆘 On the euthanasia list Tuesday 4-4 🆘
Rachel needs a hold 𝗻𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟭𝗣𝗠 or she?ll be euthanized.. We need pledges and a local foster for a rescue to help.
Rachel- ID# A1871189 Owner Surrender|Female|Golden retriever mix|2Y|61lbs|HW+ Rachel is very scared at BARC and would need someone very experienced to help her. Two volunteers tried to get her to warm up to them to get her outside-but she was growling, showing teeth, and snapping. Unfortunately she was a guard dog prior to being surrendered, so we aren?t sure she?s ever seen the good side of humans.
𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
1. Beautiful dog! Low growled at me the entire time I was in front of her kennel (owner surrender so makes sense that she is super confused). She didn?t take any of the treats I put in her kennel. I walked by a few times and she growled every time I stopped to say hi. Emily has more on her too.
2. I visited her after Suchi and she lunged at me when I tried to give her a treat through the bars, I opened the kennel and tossed the leash at her a bit and she snapped at it so I didn?t feel comfortable getting her out.
𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮: This gorgeous girl was an owner surrender and she is having a bad time Rachel was used as a guard dog for a business and they surrendered her because they didn?t have time for her. She is snapping at staff and very stressed in the kennel. She growls at everyone who passes by.
𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀: When i opened her kennel door, she started to low growl. i had to use a long leash to lazzo her, but everytime she would snap at the leash. She was panting and had her right front paw in the air, while giving the side eye. i was able to leash her and she walked with me on a semi tight leash after that.
𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀: dog was put on vet eval for left ear. She was an owner surrender that had tried to treat ear. The left ear appears to be the affected ear and appears to have a hematoma. Dog was growling at me and then snapped at me so unable to fully examine. She is low heartworm positive a: low heartworm positive and ear hematoma AS with possible otitis externa AS p: will not be able to treat with the behavior he is showing at this time. If dog goes to surgery then we could evaluate and treat ear while under anesthesia. Will try and treat with 750mg Cephalexin BID x 10 days if dog will take in meatball
