𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀: Pops? kennel was covered when I came by to see him and this old gent was snoozing on his bed ignoring the noise of the shelter. It was raining and nasty out so we didn?t go outside but instead did a quick loop around the ward. Pops is strong and forward on a leash, and he was confident enough to walk close by the dogs in their kennels, occasionally stopping to sniff hello but mostly this guy was a man on a mission. He does know sit and would take the treats I offered but spit them out as soon as I wasn?t looking. Pops appears all of his 9-10ys: he?s got graying around his eyes and muzzle, that lankiness that comes with older age, and a quiet exhaustion about him. I really hope this grandpa gets to spend his remaining golden years with a soft couch and warm blanket knowing he?s loved.

3/16 move adopt was vocal while in outdoor run. as i approached dog presented a loose body, high wagging tail, and was barking. as i attempted to leash dog would approach but move out of the way of the leash while barking. as i entered the run dog backed up and would walk away. as i walked further in the kennel the dog came from behind and began pushing his head and muzzle against my hand. was able to leash and he walked on a loose leash while following trail of treats. has been quiet in his indoor kennel and presents a loose body and soft mouth. Pops barks almost nonstop when he hears the row door open. this causes the other dogs to follow suit. covered kennel and provided extra enrichment to see if it would help.
3/18 During morning cleaning, dog was very vocal. When approaching the kennel, he continued to bark, slightly tense body, and side eye. When opening the kennel door and offering treats his body relaxed and ate them. I placed the leash on him and walked to the outside runs. He walked loose leash next to me and tail held low but not tucked. Once in the outside runs however, his body returned to a slightly more tense position, barking, and side eye. Once the kennel door was open, his body relaxed again, and he approached me. While in his kennel he is very vocal, and I will be offering extra enrichment and covering his cage.
