About elicia: Elica ACCT-A-132257 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and no space for incoming dogs. Elica must have confirmed placement with an adopter or rescue partner by Sunday, March 19th, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Should Elica's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Elica is so cute and tiny, you could just fit her in your pocket and keep her forever by your side! Elica doesn't ask for much; The necessities, a safe place to call home, warmth and a loving owner. This petite love bug weighs in under 40 pounds and had been brought into Animal Control on February 13th, 2023. A member of the public had brought her in after she had been abandoned outside of a residence. In just a few days she had been adopted and then unfortunately returned the following day. Elica ideally should be adopted out to a home without young children as the return was due to the child in the home not respecting Elica?s space and Elica communicating her discomfort by growling. Elica would do best in a home where someone respects that she needs space in any new environment just as any new animal to the home would. On the 22nd of February, Elica was assessed by our behavior team. They shared that despite being "under the weather, Elica is still a very social young lady! She solicits attention with a loose body, wagging tail, and soft eyes. She was very sweet and enjoyed all over rubs. She was never jumpy, mouthy, or pushy. On the 13th of March, a volunteer shared that Elica allowed for full body pets and that "if she was timid before, shes not now. Eager to sit on my lap and get pets. This pointy eared gal prefers all of your undivided attention and does not care much for toys. Elica is currently on antibiotics as she does have an upper respiratory infection. She did meet another female dog at the shelter (who also has an upper respiratory infection) and did well meeting her! On the 19th of February, Elica was examined by the vet who said that she was playful and curious. She was examined and noted to have interdigital erythema which is likely secondary to allergic pododermatitis. Ideally, paw pads would benefit from daily cleaning to remove exposed allergens, which is difficult in a shelter setting. Elica is in need of an adopter who can continue to ensure she is taking her medication in a home environment. She is a bright and bubbly girl with the most eye catching elf ears who is looking for a lovely home where she can curl up next to you.
