About graffspee: Graffspee ACCT-A- 116356 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Graffspee must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by Friday, July 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Should Graffspee's behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Graffspee appears to be a 7 year old medium size mix that came to us as a stray with his brother Iron Duke as a part of an eviction. Apo's noted that GraffSpee is calm. Please note 6/27 behavior with staff for overall improvement in behavior. This is a typical ?time to adjust? dog that prior to a month ago would have been given time to acclimate/become adoptable. That is unfortunately no longer happening at this shelter. On 6/23 staff noted- Fearful in kennel, He was growling, had a tense body, and hard eye contact On 6/23 another staff noted- Unable to check in due to behavior: growling, hard barking, tense body, whale eyes, overall appeared very fearful. Also may have some rear hip issues and is a very arduous task getting out of bed. On 6/25 he allowed us to check in and staff noted- BAR fearful, red spot on lower back On 6/27 staff noted- Dog growled while in kennel but behaved extremely well once out. Tolerated all handling. His medical showed patchy alopecia w/ crusting at the tail base. Extremely pruritic in this region. Small amount flea dirt but no live fleas Staff also noted: When I approached Graffspee had all four paws on the floor. I spoke gently to him and offered some treats. I received enthusiastic tail wags and a wiggly butt. I opened the door and was able to easily leash him. He was hesitant to come out so I threw a treat on the ground. He came out and took it. He was super easy to return to kennel. Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent.
