About raven: Raven is the friendliest dog ever. We believe she is a Doberman and Lab mix. She is a young adult, around 1-2 years old. Raven ended up in the shelter because she was abandoned inside of an empty home. Ravens previous owners moved and just left her there with no food or water. After a few days a neighbor had noticed her and called animal control. The Animal Control Officer responded and found her starving inside of this empty home. There was no sign of food water or anyone, Raven didn?t even have access to outside. This would have ended very badly for Raven if the neighbor hadn?t noticed her. She is extremely sweet but has very high energy. She just gets so excited to be around people and get attention. Raven need help with her concentration, she gets so distracted by people and things. She needs training and would probably love going to obedience classes. She is very smart and just needs help controlling her energy. She is clean in her kennel, so she may already be housetrained. She needs lots of attention on her leash manners, she does pull. Raven is to go to a home where she will be an indoor dog. While she has been at the shelter she has been spayed, vaccinated for rabies, given a vaccine for distemper/parvo, and he has also been dewormed.
Feel free to drop in during our regular business hours to visit the shelter and even take one of our dogs for a walk to get to know them.
Adoption Disclaimer
In an effort to help control indiscriminate breeding of homeless dogs and cats in Newaygo County, all adopted animals will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
If the animal is too young or can't get fixed because of health reasons, the adoption will include a voucher that will be good towards their spay/neuter when the animal is old enough or when their health is better. This voucher will only be honored at the White Cloud Animal Wellness Center. There will be no additional charge at time of surgery with this voucher. It is our hope that by working together we will make Newaygo County a better place for all to thrive safely and humanely.
Adoption fee for all dogs and cats is $65. This includes the animals spay/neuter. Also, they each receive a rabies vaccine, a distemper/parvo vaccine and also a deworming. This is all included in the adoption fee.
For any questions, please email Audree Myers at audree@co.newaygo.mi.us or call during regular business hours. The hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday between 11am and 1pm. The shelter phone number is (231)689-1867. We do not recommend that our dogs be adopted to homes where they will be chained up outside. The Newaygo County Animal Shelter runs on a first come basis. We cannot hold the dogs because we cannot pass up a chance for them to get a home. We do not accept any plastic cards as form of payment or out of town checks.

Shelter Hours are:
Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri.
11am-1pm.
At times our shelter is forced to euthanize dogs due to space. We need your help to prevent that from happening. Remember, when you adopt from our shelter you are saving 2 dogs, the one you take into your family, and the other who is then able to stay longer in hopes they will find one too.
Please do not adopt because you feel sorry for them! Adoption should be a well thought out decision, it?s a lifetime commitment.
